![]() Keenan's audition is shown in the Metallica documentary Metallica: Some Kind of Monster. Keenan auditioned for Metallica's vacant bass player position following Jason Newsted's departure from the band but lost out to former Suicidal Tendencies/ Ozzy Osbourne bassist Robert Trujillo. Hetfield provided backing vocals on "Man or Ash" from Corrosion of Conformity's Wiseblood. Keenan is good friends with lead singer and guitarist James Hetfield. He also recorded a number of other songs in the same session, but this was the only one given a general release (on the album Garage Inc.), the others only being available as bootlegs. Keenan plays guitar and sings a part of the second verse on Metallica's cover of the Lynyrd Skynyrd song " Tuesday's Gone". Down released their fourth album Down IV Part I – The Purple EP in September 2012 and Down IV – Part II of a four-part series of EPs. ![]() Following a second hiatus, Down released their third album entitled Down III: Over the Under in 2007. In 2002, Down released their second album Down II: A Bustle in Your Hedgerow. The band went on indefinite hiatus in 1996 but returned three years later with Pantera bassist Rex Brown replacing Strange. In 1995, Down released their debut album, NOLA. Keenan was a founding member of Down in 1991 along with Pantera's Phil Anselmo, Eyehategod's Jimmy Bower, and Crowbar's Kirk Windstein and Todd Strange. No Cross No Crown, the bands latest album to date, was released in 2018 and features Keenan on vocals and guitar. tour with the reunited lineup, supporting Clutch, was announced in July 2015. The band later reunited and recorded two albums without Keenan, however, he rejoined the group in 2015 and they performed their first show with the reunited Deliverance-era lineup of Keenan, Woody Weatherman, Mike Dean, and Reed Mullin in March 2015 in Manchester, England. Corrosion of Conformity have since released the albums Deliverance, Wiseblood, America's Volume Dealer, and In the Arms of God, No Cross No Crown, as well as the live release Live Volume.įrom 2006 to 2010, Corrosion of Conformity was on hiatus. After Karl Agell and Phil Swisher left the band (Swisher being replaced by original bassist Mike Dean), Keenan took over on vocals and guitar. Corrosion of Conformity released their third album, Blind, with Keenan on rhythm guitar. “I had basically written this off as being our sloppy beginner’s effort but listening to it now, I really hear a few songs that hold up well,” adds Dean.Keenan joined Corrosion of Conformity in 1989. “We had a lot of fun doing it and it’s great to have this album officially back out there again,” says Weatherman. With over 1.1 million albums sold in the United States, the band continues to find new fans via nonstop touring. Politically charged and socially aware, the band has influenced countless others and today remains humble about their accomplishments. The years that followed would see the band rise to worldwide popularity with breakthrough and Billboard-charting releases Blind and Deliverance.įormed in Raleigh in 1982, Corrosion Of Conformity quickly transformed heavy music. Reissued to incorporate the 1989 EP by Mike Dean (who left the band between 1987-1992), Eye For An Eye is raw in sound but focused on message. Originally released in 1984, Eye For An Eye featured the original lineup of Weatherman, Dean, drummer Reed Mullin, and vocalist Eric Eycke. Vocalist/bassist Mike Dean notes, “Making that album was our dream and we worked hard to make it happen because it was the vehicle to allow us to go out and play two hundred shows a year, like the bands we looked up to – BLACK FLAG, BAD BRAINS, D.O.A.” Guitarist Woody Weatherman comments, “We were just kids when we wrote and recorded these tunes.” Far more punk than their later recordings, the album found an immediate fanbase. Twenty-six songs showcase the early sonic years of the North Carolina-based band. The digibook version includes extended liner notes and a rare pictorial gallery. ![]() A deluxe digibook edition of the album, limited to 1,000 for North America, will be available at limited retailers and via Candlelight’s official webstore. It follows the successful release of the band’s self-titled album earlier this year. Both titles have been out of print for years. This special reissue has been remastered/packaged and includes the EP, Six Songs With Mike Singing. Candlelight Records confirms November 6th as the North American release date of CORROSION OF CONFORMITY’s Eye For An Eye.
